The Rose of Versailles Anime Film Collabs with ZOZOTOWN for Elegant Goods

The film adaptation of Riyoko Ikeda's The Rose of Versailles introduced a whole new generation to the story of Lady Oscar and Marie Antoinette. To celebrate the feature, shopping mall ZOZOTOWN is collaborating with the film to offer a limited-edition line of apparel and goods. Products are scheduled to be delivered in early June. Ai Yoshimura ( Case File nº221: Kabukicho ) directs The Rose of Versailles with a screenplay by Tomoko Konparu ( Tonari no Yokai-san ). Mariko Oka ( Hell Girl ) serves as character designer, and Hiroyuki Sawano ( Attack on Titan ), who also serves as music producer, composes soundtrack music along with KOHTA YAMAMOTO. MAPPA works on the anime production. The main voice cast members include: Oscar François de Jarjayes voiced by Miyuki Sawashiro (Kitaro in GeGeGe no Kitaro ) Marie Antoinette voiced by Aya Hirano (Haruhi Suzumiya in the Haruhi Suzumiya series) André Grandier voiced by Toshiyuki Toyonaga (Junichiro Tanizaki in Bungo Stray Dogs ) Hans Axel von Fersen voiced by Kazuki Kato (Kento Aizome in B-PROJECT ) The anime film project was first revealed in September 2022 as part of the 50th anniversary project to celebrate the publication of the original The Rose of Versailles manga by Ikeda. The original manga series ran in Shueisha's shojo manga magazine Margaret from 1972 to 1973, and inspired a TV anime series from 1979-1980, a live-action film directed by Jacques Demy in 1979 and a series of musical stage plays produced by Takarazuka Revue from 1974 to the current day. Udon Entertainment, the publisher of the manga's English edition, describes the story: Oscar François de Jarjeyes is a young noblewoman raised as a son by her father. As commander of Marie Antoinette's palace guard, Oscar is brought face-to-face with the luxury of King Louis XVI’s court at Versailles.
