First Studio BONES Original Anime Hiwou War Chronicles Now Available on Crunchyroll
Just after the anime studio BONES celebrated its 25th anniversary, Crunchyroll announced today that the studio’s first original TV anime production, titled Hiwou War Chronicles , is now streaming officially for the first time outside Japan! The release follows the screening of the documentary BONES 25: DREAMING FORWARD at the Niigata Animation Film Festival 2025 where the title was featured. Studio BONES president Masahiko Minami also gave the following comment on the streaming release of Hiwou War Chronicles : "Hiwou War Chronicles is the first original title for BONES, so we, as the founders of the studio, put in a lot of love, thought and effort into this. The character designs by Hiroshi Osaka, who was one of the founders of BONES, is very cute and the animation is full of dynamic motions. It was originally produced with 35mm film but we recently converted the film into a 4K digital master, which made the visuals become very beautiful again. I hope you watch all the episodes and all of Hiwou and his friends' adventures. Thank you!" Hiwou War Chronicles Territories: Worldwide, excluding Japan With Tetsuro Amino directing the anime based on Sho Aikawa’s original concept, Hiwou War Chronicles premiered in Japan in October 2000 and ran for 26 episodes.
