Popular Japanese historical fiction novel series Oedo Fire Slayer -The Legend of Phoenix- , known as Hikuidori: Ushuboro Tobigumi in Japan, received a double dose of adaptation news today, with the series getting both a manga and anime adaptation within the next year. A trailer for both projects was announced alongside the news, showing the anime versions of the  Oedo Fire Slayer  characters. Oedo Fire Slayer -The Legend of Phoenix- Manga and Anime Announcement Trailer RELATED: Fire Force Season 3 Reveals New Trailer, Visual and Main Staff Oedo Fire Slayer -The Legend of Phoenix- is written by Naoki Prize award-winning Japanese novelist Shogo Imamura, who also writes the Last Samurai Standing manga series alongside Katsumi Tatsuzawa’s illustrations. Oedo Fire Slayer , known as Hikuidori: Ushuboro Tobigumi in Japan, is published by Shodensha, and 13 volumes have been released. The manga adaptation of Oedo Fire Slayer will be published in Weekly Shonen Champion in Spring 2025 with Shujin Riku creator Shinobu Seguchi drawing. The anime adaptation is produced at SynergySP and is set to premiere in the Winter 2026 season. Amuse Creative Studio is producing the series under their new ACS Animation label, describing the series as such: In the Edo era A team of heroes saved countless lives.
