It Takes More Than a Pretty Face to Fall in Love Live-Action Movie Releases Main Trailer Featuring Theme Song by ILLIT
The official accounts for the upcoming live-action film adaptation of Karin Anzai's romantic comedy shojo manga series It Takes More Than a Pretty Face to Fall in Love (known as Kao Dake ja Suki ni Narimasen in Japan) released a main trailer today. Th clip introduces the film's theme song "Almond Chocolate" performed by the five-member South Korean girl idol group ILLIT for the first time. ILLIT is a multinational group including two Japanese members, formed by YUNAH, MINJU, MOKA, WONHEE, and IROHA through the audition program “R U NEXT?” broadcast in Korea from June to September 2023. "Almond Chocolate" is their first original song in Japan and theme song work for a feature film. Nakajin (SEKAI NO OWARI) and Pdogg, a music producer who has created numerous hits with BTS and others, teamed up to produce the song, which will be released digitally on February 14. The five members have posted a message video below. One of the two Japanese members, IROHA says, "This is the first time for us to sing the theme song for a movie, so we were really surprised when we received the offer, but we are very excited to imagine our song being played in movie theaters." Saiji Yakumo , best known for his directorial works for the Touken Ranbu live-action film series, serves as the director on a screenplay by Kisa Miura. Actor and singer-songwriter Ryubi Miyase (Akira Ohmi in the Lovesick Ellie live-action film) is cast as the male protagonist, Kanato Ugo. Fashion model and actor Rinka Kumada (Kaede Kagaya in the Otona Najimi live-action film) plays the main heroine, Sana Chiken. Anzai's original manga series is serialized in Hakusensha's Hano to Yume shojo manga magazine since July 2020, releasing 12 tankobon volumes to date. Seven Seas Entertainment will begin releasing the manga's English edition in February 2025, and describes the series: Sana, a fan of the influencer Kanato, who is rumored to attend the same high school, finally encounters him only to find out he’s on the verge of expulsion! Determined to prevent this, Sana takes on the role of managing the school’s social media.
