Haruhi Suzumiya Series' New Song, Music Video Crowdfunding Project Reaches 2 Goals in 3 Days
As reported earlier this month , the Haruhi Suzumiya franchise revealed a crowdfunding project to produce a new song and music video to coincide with the upcoming release of The Theater of Haruhi Suzumiya ( Suzumiya Haruhi no Gekijo in Japanese), the latest 13th volume of Nagaru Tanigawa's Haruhi Suzumiya light novel series. The project's crowdfunding campaign opened on CAMPFIRE on November 15 at 20:00 (JST). Now at the time of reporting, the campaign has raised 27,181,173 yen (175,660 USD) from 727 supporters five days after the launch, which is 271% of the initial 10 million yen (64,587 USD) goal. The first 10 million yen goal would guarantee the production of a new song performed by Haruhi Suzumiya, Mikuru Asahina and Yuki Nagato including a music video using a 3D model of Haruhi. The second 15 million yen goal would include 3D models of Mikuru and Nagato to the music video. According to the franchise's official X (formerly Twitter) post on November 18, both goals were achieved in only three days. Now the music video and 3D models of Haruhi, Mikuru, and Yuki are all decided to be produced. The two worked on the TV anime first season's ending theme, “Hare Hare Yukai.” Aya Hirano , Yuko Goto and Minori Chihara —the original three voice cast members of Haruhi, Mikuru and Yuki — will perform the new song together. The song and music video are scheduled to release in the first half of 2025, according to the crowdfunding page. Due to a greater-than-expected response, the franchise is now considering adding a new goal to the crowdfunding project. The Theater of Haruhi Suzumiya novel is scheduled to release simultaneously in Japan and worldwide on November 29, 2024. Sources : CAMPFIRE , Haruhi Suzumiya franchise official X (formerly Twitter)
