After holding the first place for two consecutive weekends since its debut, Kingdom: Daishougun no Kikan ( Return of The Great General ), the fourth installment in the live-action Kingdom film series, slipped to second place in its third weekend of release. In the weekend of July 26-28, Kingdom: Daishougun no Kikan earned 561 million yen (3.65 million USD) on 364,000 admissions according to Kogyo Tsushinsha . While the numbers were down 31.3 percent from last weekend , the movie still surpassed the opening weekend revenue of Deadpool & Wolverine (513 million yen) which opened in Japan on July 24. After 16 days of release, the fourth Kingdom live-action film has earned a cumulative 4.6 billion yen (29.9 million USD) on 3.13 million admissions in Japan, which is the best box office performance in the live-action film series through the end of its third weekend of release.
