The event continued Hollywood's recognition of Japanese animation, with the Science SARU-produced Scott Pilgrim Takes Off anime series winning the the Critics Choice Award for Best Animated Series. The series beat out far more visible shows such as Bluey , Bob’s Burgers , Harley Quinn , Star Trek: Lower Decks and Young Love . Scott Pilgrim Takes Off features director Abel Góngorra with Scott Pilgrim vs. the World director Edgar Wright as executive producer. Creator Bryan Lee O' Malley as well as Bendavid Grabinski were involved with the production. Anamanaguchi and Joseph Trapenese music featured in the series, while the cast of the Scott Pilgrim vs. The World live-action film returned to reprise key roles.
