A stage play adaptation of the 2019 TV anime Case file n221: Kabukicho is set to open at the IMM Theater in Tokyo in May 2024. The play's official website and Twitter account opened on January 19 to make the announcement. The original TV anime, produced by Production I.G, aired for 24 episodes from October 2019 to March 2020. The story is set in the fictional town of Kabukicho, and the characters are inspired by Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes classic mystery novel series. Tsuneyasu Motoyoshi, best known for his directorial works for the stage adaptations of My Hero Academia , directs the stage play. Hirohumi Araki (Sadahariu Inui in The Prince of Tennis stage plays) is cast as Sherlock Holmes, with Hiroki Suzuki (Jyan Kandou/Geki Red in Juken Sentai Gekiranger ) playing John H. Watson.
