A NEW DAWN Anime Movie Adds Miyu Irino, Takashi Okabe to Voice Cast

The official website for A NEW DAWN , an upcoming original animation film directed by Japanese painter Yoshitoshi Shinomiya , announced two additional voice cast members today. Miyu Irino will play Sentaro Obinata, the protagonist Keitaro Obinata's older brother. Takashi Okabe will play Eitaro Obinata, Keitaro's father. Miyu Irino is known as Haku in Hayao Miyazaki's 2011 film Spirited Away and Jinta "Jintan" Yadomi in the 2011 TV anime Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day . Unlike Keitaro, who struggles to find the fantastic fireworks, and Kaoru, who leaves her hometown to seek a future in Tokyo, Sentaro works for the local city hall and is more serious. However, he is gradually influenced by Keitaro and Kaoru's passion for fireworks. "When I saw the audition materials for this film, I was instantly attracted to the atmosphere that I felt," said Irino. "The recording was very difficult, but it was a very special time. I think I was just trying to grasp what the director was looking for, and to face the expressions and sensations that came out of me, as well as the performances of the two lead voice cast members. I am looking forward to seeing how the film will turn out." This is also Okabe's first anime voice acting work, although he has acted in other Japanese live-action films and dramas. His character Eitaro once led Obinata Fireworks Shop, where the main story of the film is set, as a fireworks craftsman, but has since disappeared. "'You may not have a great face, but you have a pretty good voice, so we think you can get a voice job.' After decades of being told this by family and friends, I finally got my first voice-acting job!!" said Okabe. "However, when I tried to express my emotions, I could not match my character's movements, and when I tried to match the movements, I had a hard time keeping up with my emotions. It was a good experience for me. Director Shinomiya, who is also a Japanese-style painter, created beautiful colors. I am sure it will be overwhelming when you see it on the screen. Please come to the theater!"
