New Gundam Anime Series Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX Announced from Studio Khara and Sunrise

Gundam info, the Mobile Suit Gundam franchise's official portal news site, announced today that a new TV anime series Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX (pronounced as "Geeku-akusu") is now in the works. The news was also during the "Gundam Conference WINTER 2024" stream. The TV anime series is scheduled to air in Japan on the Nihon Television Network stations in the near future. Ahead of the TV premiere, a theatrical version using re-edited episodes, titled Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning- , will screen in Japanese theaters on January 17, 2025. Teaser visual Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX is co-produced by studio Khara, which handled the Evangelion movie series, and Sunrise, which has worked on the Gundam series since the first TV anime series in 1979. Kazuya Tsurumaki , who directed the Rebuild of Evangelion film series including the final installment Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time , serves as the director, alongside series composition writer Yoji Enokido , character designer take and mechanical designer Ikuto Yamashita . Additionally, the voice cast for the three main characters were announced: Amate Yuzuriha (MACHU) voiced by Tomoyo Kurosawa (Kumiko Omae in Sound! Euphonium ) Nyaan voiced by Yui Ishikawa (Mikasa Ackerman in Attack on Titan ) Shuji Ito voiced by Shimba Tsuchiya (Shun Kazanami in Fanfare of Adolescence ) A promotional video for the GQuuuuuuX HG 1/144 plastic model narrated by Tomoyo Kurosawa is now also streaming. The model is set to release in Japan on January 17, 2025. The anime's official English website describes the story as such: Amate Yuzuriha is a high-school student living peacefully in a space colony floating in outer space. When she meets a war refugee named Nyaan, Amate is drawn into the illegal mobile suit dueling sport known as Clan Battle. Under the entry name "Machu," she throws herself into fierce battle day after day, piloting the GQuuuuuuX. Then an unidentified Gundam mobile suit pursued by both the space force and the police appears before her, along with its pilot, a boy named Shuji. Now their world is about to enter a new era.
