Following last week’s placement in second place, the fourth live-action Kingdom movie went down to fourth place in its fourth weekend. Kingdom: Daishougun no Kikan ( Return of The Great General ) has now earned 5.4 billion yen (37.1 million USD) on 3.65 million admissions in total after its release on July 12, according to Kogyo Tsushinsha . The past three films in the series have also grossed over 5 billion yen at the Japanese box office, making this the fourth consecutive film to surpass the 5 billion yen mark. The highest-grossing film in the series is the first film Kingdom which made 5.73 billion yen (39.3 million USD) in 2019, followed by the third film Kingdom: The Flame of Destiny with 5.6 billion yen (3.84 million USD) in 2023 and the second film Kingdom 2: Far And Away with 5.16 billion yen (3.54 million USD) in 2022 (Figures are from the annual reports of the Motion Picture Producers Association of Japan ). This also follows the latest My Hero Academia movie opening this weekend in first place with 895 million yen (5.89 million USD) on 608,500 admissions in its first three-day weekend of August 2-4. The live-action film adaptation of Masamitsu Nigatsu's romantic comedy action manga Honeko Akabane's Bodyguards opened in 337 theaters across Japan on August 2, making a sixth-place debut. The film starring the Japanese male idol group Snow Man's 20-year-old member Raul also ranks fifth in Filmarks' first-day satisfaction ranking with an average rating of 3.61/5.0 based on 390 reviews.
