Shin Kamen Rider Film Gets US Premiere Via Japan Society NYC

 

Japan Society NYC, the nation's largest and oldest non-profit society dedicated to spreading awareness of Japanese culture in the United States, announced that it will hold the United States premiere of the highly-anticipated Shin Kamen Rider feature film released in Japan earlier year to great acclaim. The film is helmed and written by by anime industry luminary Hideaki Anno. 

 

The North American premiere of Hideaki Anno’s Shin Kamen Rider will be held on May 23, 2023 inside Japan Society’s headquarters in New York City in cooperation with Fathom Events, ahead of a nationwide release on May 31 in 700 theaters across the country in a one night only event.

 

 

The film is described below:

 

Hongo Takeshi awakens to discover he has been transformed into a grasshopper-hybrid cyborg. Becoming the Masked Rider, he must fight the mysterious evil organization SHOCKER to protect all of mankind. Shin Kamen Rider is Anno Hideaki’s ode to the legendary tokusatsu franchise, Japan’s biggest hero, and his dearest childhood icon. Go! Go! Let’s go!

 

In celebrating the North American premiere of the film, Japan Society’s newly installed Director of Film Peter Tartara had this to say:

 

“We’re honored and humbled to bring Shin Kamen Rider to audiences in North America for the first time. We believe Hideaki Anno’s tribute to one of his childhood heroes will ignite both old and new fans here at Japan Society and all across the country.”
