As the author's first serialization work, the manga has been serialized on Comic Smart's Ganma! website since March 2019, and its print edition has been released for six volumes from Media Factory's MF Comics imprint. Its total circulation of the print and digital editions together has reached 2 million copies.

The TV anime adaptation project was announced at the Aniplex Online Fest 2022 event on September 24, 2022. Morio Asaka (Chihayafuru) serves as director at Madhouse, alongside series composition writer Yasuhiro Nakanishi (KAGUYA-SAMA: LOVE IS WAR) and character designer Kunihiko Hamada (Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card). The male protagonist Akito Yamada is voiced by Koki Uchiyama (Kelvin in Black Summoner) and the main heroine Akane Kinoshita is played by Inori Minase (Rem in Re:ZERO − Starting Life in Another World).

Mangamo, the publisher of the manga's Englishe edition, describes its story as below:

Recently dumped, Akane is just about to quit the game she used to play with her boyfriend, when she meets Yamada in the same RPG. Yamada in real life turns out to be somewhat of a legend. The only problem is - he is ONLY interested in the game. As Akane's feelings grow, will Yamada's focus stay on the game?
