The Rose Of Versailles Gets Movie To Celebrate 50th Anniversary
A new theatrical anime movie has been announced to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the publication of The Rose of Versailles historical fiction manga authored by Riyoko Ikeda. The announcement of the new movie was announced alongside the opening of its official site and Twitter account, as well as the release of the first key visual, embedded below:

Related to the above announcement, a new companion exhibition in “The Rose of Versailles Commemorating the 50th Anniversary of its Birth – Forever the Rose of Versailles –” will begin on September 17 in Japan at the Tokyo City View venue. The exhibition will feature teaser visuals, animation character settings, and background settings with selected images published in advance.
The manga is currently published in English by Udon Entertainment, while the 1979 TV anime adaptation is currently licensed and distributed by Discotek Media. Udon describes the manga:
