Kabukibu! Author Yuuri Eda's BL Novel Eternal Yesterday Gets Live-action Drama

As the fourth series of MBS' one-year limited drama slot "Drama Shower," a live-action TV drama adaptation of Yuuri Eda's (Kabukibu!) boys love novel Eien no Kinou / Eternal Yesterday is set to premiere on October 20, 2022.

The drama slot has been broadcasting live-action drama adaptations of popular BL manga works since April of this year - Gamoko Tsuyu's Fukoukun wa Kiss Surushikanai! (April 22 - June 10), Shinta Harekawa's Senpai, Danjite Koi Deha! (June 17 - August 12), and Hanagenomai's Takara-kun & Amagi-kun (August 19 - ongoing). The adaptations have been produced as works of Tunku, a new BL drama label launched by KADOKAWA.

The original novel was published from Kasakura Shuppan's BL imprint CROSS NOVELS in February 2002. Then twenty years later, this March, it was re-published from KADOKAWA's Kadokawa Bunko.

Synopsis (by Kadokawa Bunko):

Mitsuru Aomi and Koichi Yamada are 17 years old and classmates. They are opposites in personality and are strongly attracted to each other. One winter morning, Koichi is hit by a truck. Koichi stands up with a nonchalant look on his face, even though he must have been hit hard on the head. There is no pulse or heartbeat, but Koichi is certainly "alive" and smiling as usual. Mitsuru accepts this contradiction. However, his classmates gradually begin to forget Koichi's existence...

Rio Komiya (Juru Atsuta/Kiramai Red in Mashin Sentai Kiramager) is cast as Koichi Yamada, while Sora Inoue (Yudai in Ashita, Watashi wa Dareka no Kanojo) plays Misturu Aomi. Keiichi Kobayashi (He Won't Kill, She Won't Die) serves as director on his own screenplay.
