Anime Studio GONZO Announces Plans for 30th Anniversary Activities
The anime studio we know as GONZO has been through a lot of changes over the years. But its first iteration, Gonzo Inc., came to be back in 1992, founded by former members of Gainax. That makes 2022 its 30th anniversary, and the studio has started announcing its celebratory plans.
An anniversary website has launched, along with a special Twitter account, to keep fans up-to-date on the celebratory goings-on. For now, the site is playing host to a Twitter campaign, where lucky followers of the new account will become the proud owners of art from some of the studio's many series. At present, art from Strike Witches and AOKANA: Four Rhythm Across the Blue is up for grabs, with other series rotating in weekly.

You can also scope out fun character art from guest artists like Afro Samurai director Fuminori Kinzaki and Strike Witches character designer Fumikane Shimada.
Starting August 26, GONZO will be running a crowdfunding campaign to bring more of its big anniversary plans to fruition. Their aim is to hold online celebrations, including an exhibition and talk event. Funders will be able to pick up gorgeous reproduction art from 14 of the studio's hit shows, including Afro Samurai, Kaleido Star, and Last Exile.
If the fundraiser reaches 10 million yen, the online exhibition will go live—free for anyone interested regardless of support, but with priority access given to donors.
GONZO's 30th anniversary takes place next month, so be sure to keep an eye out for other activities and events!
