Pokémon Master Journeys has a major team rocket problem.
Pokémon Master Journeys incorporates a Major Team Rocket Problem.
Pokémon Journeys anime and all the seasons under it have been a real game-changer for the ultimate money maker franchise - The Pokemon Company, but the changes and writing direction with Team Rocket anime characters may not be for the simplest.
Team Rocket anime trio has come an extended way during the vast history of the Pokémon anime. Far away from the one-dimensional criminals they once were, they need to develop emotional bonds with their Pokémon, and Jessie has even discovered a passion for Pokémon Contests. Unfortunately, after the soft reboot of Pokémon Journeys, all this character development has been undone and therefore the nefarious trio has become a true problem for the series.
By the way, the Pokémon UNITE video game was released on Nintendo Switch on July 21st, 2021, and now, Poke-fans and Pokemon Trainers will be able to play the Pokémon UNITE on mobile on September 22, 2021.
Pokémon Journeys is making the iconic pokemon anime trio Team Rocket regress tremendously in terms of their relevancy to the plot. Starting in Hoenn and continuing all the way through Kalos, Team Rocket finally had something to try to do aside from bothering the pokemon anime main character - Ash when the team rocket female lead character - Jessie started competing in Pokémon Contests. and those pokemon beauty contests finally caring about something aside from a lifetime of crime, her moderate success in these Contests, with wholehearted support from James and Meowth, was an excellent way to keep their quest to steal Pikachu from getting too stale.
James' and Meowth's sincere support for Jessie made it clear that these crooks had become a makeshift family. This new dynamic made them sympathetic enough that it became believable that they might occasionally hunt down Ash's help -- which he would actually provide to them. Ash's habit of lending Team Rocket a hand is particularly noteworthy considering he once tried to push them into the ocean when he thought they were dead.
Throughout the years, Pokémon dedicated entire episodes to Jessie's and James' relationships with the Pokémon they captured on their journey -- and a bit like Ash, they might tearfully release or give away their Pokémon once they felt it had been in their Pokémon's best interest. How trainers behave with their Pokémon are often the foremost humanizing or dehumanizing character trait within the series, and Team Rocket unquestionably loves their Pokémon.
However, lately in Pokémon Journeys, these storytelling tools to create Team Rocket sympathetic characters are stripped away. Jessie, James, and Meowth have reverted to their Season 1 characters, meaning they exist solely to cause trouble for Ash. they do not even have their own Pokémon anymore; instead, in each episode, a Pelipper descends from the sky and drops off a handful of Team Rocket Poké Balls with random Pokémon in them for Jessie and James to battle with before returning them to HQ after they get sent blasting off again.
Gone are the times where Team Rocket faces off against a rival criminal organization or lands themselves in such trouble that they have Ash's help. they don't seem to be at the same time as competent as criminals as they were during Ash's Unova campaign once they had Meowth join Ash and therefore the gang as a part of an extended con. Pokémon Journeys has relegated the trio to contextless antagonism and also the occasional comic relief, and even if a number of it's genuinely funny, it only goes thus far in helping them feel relevant to the franchise.
Without their own Pokémon or the rest to try and do themselves, Team Rocket has become nothing quite a plot device, and an annoying one at that. Their antics have reached the purpose that their appearances come off as little quite an attempt to pad the episodes' runtime. With no indication of potential character arcs for the criminal trio, their 25-years-long quest to steal Pikachu is getting a touch exhausting. It's almost as if the anime itself has had enough of Team Rocket but getting obviate them all together would be too bold for a series that famously avoids taking any narrative risks.
Pokémon Journeys doesn't appear to understand what to try and do with Team Rocket and possibly doesn't really care. it is not a decent explore for the series, and it actively harms the episodes during which Team Rocket appears. Hopefully, the day will come when Jessie, James, and Meowth will be relevant and sympathetic characters another time because as they're now, the series would be happier without them.
So anyway, be sure to keep up with pokemon master journeys anime and our anime blog. Also, be sure to check out other anime reviews.

On a new day in the Kanto region, Ash gets invited by Professor Yukinari Ookido over to Professor Sycamore's lab-opening ceremony in Vermillion City. During the ceremonial speech, Professor Sycamore receives an alert of a possibly rare Pokémon appearing in Vermillion City's harbor, leading Ash and the other trainers to rush to the area in hopes of finding the mysterious Pokémon. At the harbor, they find Lugia—a Legendary Pokémon—engaged in combat with other trainers. Noticing the other trainers' tactics, Ash has his partner, Pikachu, strike Lugia with a Thunderbolt attack. Unfazed, Lugia flees, but not before Ash determinedly leaps onto its back. To Ash's surprise, he meets another boy, Goh, who leapt onto Lugia's back as well. The two ride on Lugia's back as it brings them along on a bizarre adventure across the seas. As it lets the two back on the ground, Ash and Goh bid their farewells to Lugia and return to Professor Sycamore's lab. Impressed by Goh's findings and Ash's insight taken during their encounter, S requests for the duo to be his new research partners. And so the duo's journey begins, traveling across multiple regions to meet many new Pokémon—including ones that have the ability to Gigantamax!
